You must renew your membership to maintain your CFA designation every year. As a member of CFA Institute, you embody the highest standards of practice and competence, advance the profile of your firm and professional networks, and demonstrate your commitment to champion professionalism on behalf of investors globally. The membership year runs from 1 July to 30 June.

Log in to your CFA account and click “Manage your membership” to start. You can click “Add a new society” or “Replace/Remove” and complete all the required fields to proceed. After clicking “Add a new society” or “Replace society”, the page refreshes. The new society is added, or the replaced society is removed and the new society replaces it. Please note that society dues are nontransferable and nonrefundable.

Prorated membership dues are only applicable for individuals who join for the first time. Current or lapsed members are charged full dues for the member year in which they renew. Dues vary by society so please check with your local society before paying the dues. Please note that society dues are nontransferable and nonrefundable.

Changes in your career path or personal circumstances shouldn‘t prevent you from maintaining your membership. We offer professional leave to members who have been active for at least five years (years do not need to be consecutive) and are not currently working full time in a job that qualifies for regular membership.

In response to COVID-19, we are waiving the five-year membership requirement of our professional leave policy so that all members not currently working full time in the industry as a result of the pandemic are eligible for reduced membership fees.
